Fostering a healthier and more mentally resilient Canada

Our Mission

Our mission at Integrative Psychiatry Canada is to provide timely, efficient, and comprehensive mental health care, fostering a healthier and more mentally resilient Canada. Through evidence-based integrative approaches, we are dedicated to enhancing mental well-being and delivering innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of our community.

Our Model

Each year, 20% of Canadians face mental illness, with a significant portion struggling to secure timely or comprehensive primary care services, thus hindering their ability to obtain referrals for specialized mental health care, including psychiatry. Most collaborative care models (CoCM) take the structure of the care team from two people (patient and Primary Care Provider), to four. At Integrative Psychiatry Canada our collaborative mental health care model differentiates itself, with not just four, but six care team members ready to direct you towards a better mental health trajectory. 1. Patient 2. PCP (Primary Care Provider) 3. A-PCP (Acute Primary Care Provider) 4. MHCM (Mental Health Case Manager) 5. BHSM (Behavioural Health Care Manager) 6. Psychiatric Consultant Mental Health Case Managers (MHCM) are here to assist with patient inquiries, ensuring the best clinicians are assigned based on experience, age, and mental health conditions. Furthermore, they are in constant communication with the entire care team and the patient, making sure all appointments proceed as scheduled, as reporting is completed on time. At IPC we have introduced an Acute Primary Care Provider (A-PCP), a Mental Health focused Nurse Practitioner to our collaborative care model. They lead the initial virtual consult, carefully triage mental health concerns, refer to psychiatry when appropriate, provide follow-up virtual care/treatment sessions, prescribe medications (under guidance from the Psychiatric Consultant), and coordinate tasks and instructions for a seamless return to the PCPs when patients transition out of IPC's care. Our Behavioral Health Care Manager (BHCM), represented by our fantastic Master Social Workers (MSWs), takes on the important role of coordinating the care team. They gather complete medical histories, collaborative reporting, offer therapeutic recommendations, provide community navigation, psychoeducation, and ensure effective communication between all providers and patients. Finally, we have the invaluable Psychiatric Consultant. This specialist collaborates closely with the A-PCP and BHCM, providing support with diagnosis and rule out, mental health treatment plans, medication plans, medication adjustments and/or weaning plans,  along with offering comprehensive guidance as necessary. Together, our collaborative care team ensures IPC’s patients receive comprehensive, personalized, and effective mental health care at every stage of your journey.

Our Why

At IPC we introduced our Mental Health Collaborative Care Model (MHCoCM) to Canada due to our deep understanding of the diverse demands of Canada's public mental health care system. As providers and individuals connected by the common thread of mental health concerns and ailments, we recognize the importance of addressing these issues in a more timely, personalized, professional, and efficient way. Our primary goal is to provide patient-centered mental health care that is tailored to each individual's unique circumstances. With evidence-based collaborative care, we strive to exceed the minimum standards and deliver accountable care that focuses on quality, allowing patients to be heard, and clinical outcomes. We invite you to join us in our mission to provide timely, efficient, and comprehensive mental health care, fostering a healthier and more mentally resilient Canada. Through evidence-based integrative approaches, we are dedicated to enhancing mental well-being and delivering innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of our community.
